The KEEN trail running movement is all about partnering with the people and events that build community – including races that are designed by trail runners, for trail runners.
This spring, KEEN Canada was proud to partner with the Caledon Crusher, a trail race hosted by Crazy Cat Adventures in Ontario’s beautiful Caledon and Mono region. Known for technical singletrack, challenging climbs, and incredible views, the Crusher brings together runners who love pushing their limits while connecting with the outdoors.
To learn more about what makes this race special, we caught up with race director Eric D’Arcy. A longtime runner, coach, and endurance athlete, Eric has spent more than 20 years in the sport and has helped create an event that celebrates grit, community, and adventure on the trails.
Race Director Log
Name: Eric D’Arcy
Role: Race Director, Caledon Crusher
Location: Caledon & Mono, Ontario
Years in Endurance Sports: 20+
Trail Running Experience: 12 years
Race Personality: “Gritty, quirky, and quietly unstoppable”

Eric discovered trail running and ultra-running about 12 years ago and has loved every moment on the trails since. “There’s something special about being out in nature, challenging yourself, and sharing the experience with a community that genuinely supports one another,” he says.
That passion is what inspired the Caledon Crusher. Eric adds, “You can expect technical single track, lots of elevation, and sore quads. It truly lives up to its name.”

Why KEEN Canada Was a Good Match
For Crazy Cat Adventures, partnership matters most when values align. “KEEN Canada is a natural fit because they genuinely live their values, sustainability, community, and protecting the places we play,” says Eric.
More Than Just a Race
While the course is demanding, the goal is about more than competition. “We want runners to feel challenged, supported, and proud of what they accomplished,” Eric explains. The event also brings visitors into the Caledon region, supporting local businesses, volunteers, EMS teams, and community partners who help make race day possible.
The Biggest Challenge? The Conditions.
Spring weather in Ontario can mean snow, rain, mud, ice, or sunshine, sometimes all in one day. “Always the weather,” Eric says when asked what stresses him most on race day. That unpredictability is also why reliable footwear matters on the Crusher’s terrain.

Trail-Tested Footwear
Eric and his team recently tested the KEEN SEEK and were impressed with its performance across mixed conditions. “The Seek model has surprised us all with a great fit, comfortable midsole, and traction that feels secure on climbs and descents,” he says. “It’s a shoe you can trust.”
Looking Ahead
The Crusher continues to grow, and so does Crazy Cat Adventures with races like the Ribbon 200. Eric hinted at expanded events, stronger community partnerships, and more opportunities to help people connect with nature through meaningful outdoor experiences. “There’s a lot coming, and we can’t wait to share it.”
Whether you lined up at the start this year or are eyeing the Crusher for next season, one thing is clear: this race leaves an impression long after the mud dries. KEEN Canada is proud to support communities and events that inspire people to get outside, challenge themselves, and protect the places that make adventures like this possible.
