$1M IN SUPPORT FOR FUTURE TRADESWOMEN

Through our She Builds Grants, KEEN Utility is supporting nonprofits providing access to quality skills-based education, networking, and empowerment for girls and women looking to join the trades. We’ve committed $1+ million in resources over 5 years to help provide a solid foundation for a new generation of women workers in North America.

BCIT TRADES DISCOVERY FOR WOMEN

The BCIT Trades Discovery program, based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, helps women explore and gain skills in approximately 15 different trades disciplines. Over the course of 16 weeks, participants prepare to successfully enter and complete trades/technical training or seek apprenticeship.

BLACK WOMEN BUILD

Black Women Build is a homeownership and wealth-building initiative that trains Black women in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skillsets. Participants restore vacant and deteriorated houses in West Baltimore, not only reinvigorating the community but also providing the opportunity to own the homes they work on.

Girls Garage is a design and construction school for girls and gender-expansive youth ages 9-18, providing free and low-cost programs in carpentry, welding, architecture, engineering, and activist art.
